Practice Your Figure-Eights at the Columbia Ice Rink

We’re all looking for more creative activities that will take us out of homes these days. But what to do when it’s chilly outside? Columbia Ice Rink is adjacent to Oakland Mills Shopping Center and is the perfect place to build (or test!) your ice skating skills on a blustery day.

Rent skates or have the blades on your own pair sharpened right on site. Glide across the ice during one of the daily public skate session or start from scratch in their Learn to Skate program, where you can take 7 weeks of lessons.

Do you have little ones who already know how to ice skate? They can join an instructional hockey program for kids or high school students to learn hockey fundamentals. The rink also hosts competitions, team workouts, and even more opportunities for hockey fans to practice their skills.

Rent the rink for a 40 minute freestyle session so you can polish your spins and your poses. They’ll even play your own music on their sound system, so you can practice your own routine and imagine you’re competing at the Winter Olympics!
